Some of the main differences between MySQL and Oracle are as follows:
- Authentication: In MySQL there is an additional field location that is used for user authentication. Location parameter generally contains hostname, IP address or a wild card.
- Privileges: In MySQL, privileges given to users and groups are in hierarchical system. Privileges available at a higher level are also granted to lower levels in same hierarchy. At lower levels there is also an option of overriding the privileges passed from higher level.
