Data scientists at IBM have come up with an explanation for four Vs of Big Data. These are as follows:
- Volume: Scale of data. Scale can be defined in the term of number of users, number of tables, size of data, number of records etc.
- Velocity: Analysis of streaming data. In general Big Data keeps getting generated over time. Velocity is the rate at which data keeps getting generated.
- Variety: This point is about the different forms of Big Data. It can be in log files, media files, voice records, images etc.
- Veracity: This is about certainty or uncertainty of data. How sure we are about the accuracy of the data.
